Dempo Sports Club moved to the top of the I-League table with a 2-1 victory away to JCT in Ludhiana.
Joaquim Abranches put Dempo in front, heading in a corner kick from Clifford Miranda in the 42nd minute.
Dempo then piled on the pressure in the second half and JCT defender Gurwinder Singh felled Anthony Pereira in the area prompting a penalty in the 70th minute.
Sunil Chettri stepped up to convert to double the lead, before Baljit Singh Sahni reduced the ma! rgin two minutes later for JCT.
Pune FC fought out another draw - their fourth in as many matches - holding Churchill Brothers 1-1.
Odafe Okolie powered Churchill ahead in the 44th minute, but Pune were ensured a point when Churchill goalkeeper Arindam Bhattacharya fumbled a shot from Edmar Figueira, the ball trickling over the line.
At the Cooperage, Mumbai FC's Abhishek Yadav scored twice to help his team secure a 2-2 draw against Air India.
Air India forged ahead through a strike from ND Opara in the 36th minute, but Abhishek Yadav scored twice in the space of eight minutes late in the second half to put Mumbai in front.
Opara then converted a contentious penalty a minute from time to hand Air India a point.
